Sheriff Alex Villanueva has responded to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority board members who are preparing to vote on transit security contract extensions with the Sheriff, Los Angeles and Long Beach Police Departments.
On Tuesday, November 30, 2021, I rode the @metrolosangeles Gold and Blue Lines to see first-hand what public transportation users experience on a regular basis. I spoke to several riders and heard their concerns.
Sheriff Villanueva
During his Dec. 1 briefing on social media, Sheriff Villanueva pointed out that the cost overruns on the contract derive from LAPD, who uses officers to work overtime shifts.
The Sheriff’s department employs full-time deputies whose sole job is transit security.
It is unknown whether any of the members of the Metro board use public transportation or how they ascertain comments from the public.
The South Bay Metro Service Council meets regularly, but typically to an audience of less than five members of the public.
Listen to first hand accounts from riders on how they feel about using public transportation for their daily commutes.

This is the best sheriff the County of LA has ever had – barn none – he is concerned about the working poor and the middle class homeowners instead of the corrupt LAPD union/pension plundering personnel and the city council members and county supervisors addiction to power.
Re-elect Sheriff Villanueva unless you want a return to a crook like Baca.
Or worse yet, a former chief from the city of long beach.
