Notorious music production powerhouse, Death Row Records, is marking its 30th anniversary in style. Partnering with NFT gurus Crypto.com, they have launched an exciting new NFT collection.
The early ’90s marked a huge era for the then-fledgling record company, as they sat on the cusp of transforming the hip hop genre forever, signing performers who would become some of the biggest names in rap history. On November 23, 1993, they released “Doggystyle,” the debut studio album by Snoop Dogg. Now, 28 years to the day, they have re-issued the landmark release in all its double vinyl glory.
The NFTs
All-in-all, seven NFTs make up the collection, each featuring an incredible 3D animated artwork, set to tracks from the fantastic Doggystyle album. The first three NFTs are the brainchild of creative studio, Fluxx88, representing crypto-themed renditions of the iconic Death Row logo. While the final four units were designed in a collaboration between TillaVision and Death Row, featuring the popular “Lil Bitcoin” character.
Each NFT is available on a limited run only, in a sale ending promptly at 2PM UTC on November 25. Following the drop, Death Row will invite 300 lucky NFT holders at random to join the “Death Row Crypto Club”. Therein, members will receive fantastic member-only perks, including a 20% discount for the Death Row merch store, and early-bird notice to future drops. Plus, one of the 300 selected will also receive an exclusive Death Row Chain.
Death Row Records
Death Row Records formed way back in 1992 by hip-hop legends Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, the D.O.C., and Dick Griffey, and subsequently released some of the most well-known hip-hop albums ever made. Considered a watershed era in the annuls of hip-hop history, the label released several significant titles, including “Chronic” by Dr.Dre, “Doggystyle” by Snoop Dogg, and “All Eyez on Me” by Tupac Shakur, before the operation came tumbling down through in-fighting and reports of violence. Now fully revived, with MNRK Music Group at the helm, Death Row Records has an accumulated sales record of over 36 million albums.
