CARSON – The Carson city council has appointed a new city clerk in the wake of the abrupt resignation of Myla Rahman who was elected to the position last month.
During a special city council meeting last night, the council appointed Dr. Khaleah K. Bradshaw, who is currently employed with Cal State University Dominguez Hills as its director of government and community relations.
Bradshaw has made no public comments on her selection.
The council vacated the position last Thursday, and didn’t go through a public vetting process, outside of council members giving names of the people they wanted considered.
Newly elected Councilwoman Arlean Rojas suggested Monette Gavino, who placed second behind Rahman and Councilman Jawane Hilton suggested Bradshaw.
“I just threw a name out there and they agreed which surprised me,” said Hilton.
Hilton was against the council reducing the duties and salary of the position, and was also a supporter of Rahman.

Well since you know the FACTS, please tell us why would a person raise and spend thousands of dollars to run for office, work hard to win then resign right after being sworn in.
This is why the elected clerk resigned so the city council can appoint the clerk of their choosing. Crony government in Carson. Disgraceful.
