Crenshaw/LAX rail line delays could extend into 2025

City of Inglewood officials have appeared to successfully lobbied LA County Metro to implement more changes to the yet to be opened Crenshaw/LAX rail line.  These changes will have a major impact on commute times for those traveling through Inglewood on their daily drive to/from work.

The city has already begun an ambitious street revitalization project of Centinela Ave. that will stretch from LaCienega to Florence.

What residents may not be aware of is additional construction beginning in next year on the Crenshaw/LAX rail line whose opening has been pushed back more than Dr. Dre’s “Detox” album.

In the interim, Metro appears to have approved plans in 2020, to build a bridge that will go over the crossing at the intersection of Centinela and Florence.

According to Metro, construction will begin in 2022 and would last until 2025. Considering the delays and cost overruns, how much you wanna bet this line doesn’t open until the Olympics arrive in 2028?

Keep in mind, Inglewood and Metro are also busy raising funds to build a transit connector, from the Crenshaw/LAX rail line, to extend to the Forum, SoFi Stadium, and possibly the Clippers Arena, under the newly created Inglewood Transit Connector Joint Powers Authority.

Which basically gives the JPA the authority to make decisions, that don’t always include public input.
