Dear 2UrbanGirls,
Why is this Inglewood’s fault for coming to a football game, and actually playing! Morningside should have conceded. They did not have to come out after halftime. Now everybody wants to throw stones. Nobody said anything when Morningside used to beat Inglewood.
The coaches didn’t make the right the right call. Don’t blame Milvon. He coach his players. Also, let’s stop bringing up Mr.James’s past. We have all sinned, and fell short of the glory of God. Only God can judge him. Milli you alright with me. You doing a good job 🙂 Collins and Morris are both indigent, they knew they couldn’t come back. And had absolutely no chance in winning. Poor sportsmanship…or bad coaching?
Morningside’s coaches and administrators did not have the boys best interest in mind, or they would have stopped the game. Don’t blame Inglewood. Someone from Morningside should have called it.
The game was over in the 1st quarter. It wasn’t on the winning team to stop the game. Why would they forfeit! Why did y’all let the boys come out after the half?
Let’s speak on these transfers.
When you attend City Honors, you have the option of playing for either Inglewood or Morningside. The boys chose Inglewood over Morningside. Also, it’s your choice to attend the school of your choice. Nothing forced. How come Inglewood been handing ass whoopings out all season, and Torres never spoke on it? Yet she’s now sending out messages.
Girl bye! Have several seats.
Again you didn’t send one posting out when the other schools were getting beat, but now it’s an issue? In fact you should be congratulating our champs on a job well done. Why discourage the young men. Applaud them. They’re already dealing with hating ass Collins. This isn’t the first game that Morningside lost this season. 2-8 record.
Leuzinger beat Morningside 67-0. Was this bad sportsmanship? And Inglewood beat Leuzinger. So, why would Morningside think they stood a chance. It is what it is…it was a humiliating game. Actually a bit boring. But we all knew that Inglewood was going to win.
It was no threat. No clear and present danger. So why wouldn’t Justin stay in the game! 13 touchdowns, clearly the defense didn’t show up for the game. It’s not Inglewood’s fault y’all had no defense. Morningside had a bad season. Teams have been beating them. Why no one ever say anything when the other schools were beating y’all. Collins and Morris should have stopped the game. The refs should have stopped the game. Let’s stop blaming Inglewood. Champs, stay focused! Continue to play hard. And WIN…WIN…WIN!
Don’t let the hate sidetrack you guys. Y’all have a championship to win. Milvon for coach of the year.
Signed,
Alumni Parent

Bottom line is the coaches are to blame. There is no way the starting QB, and any other starters, should have been in the game after halftime. They went for 2pts when the score was 104-0! No to mention, they only beat Beverly Hills by 53-0. I saw Beverly Hills in person against Centennial and Beverly Hills looked like a JV team. All the political/district talk has nothing to do with this sports topic.
Dear Media and IUSD. We reached out to you on Monday October 25th to cover a special announcement that was made to the Inglewood Football team and Coaches on Tuesday Oct 26th at 3:30pm on the football field. This was a major newsworthy event that took place.. We were seeking media coverage for this human interest story prior to the most recent event that involved the IHS football team on 10/29/21. The question is being asked as to why the media highlights the negative and rarely the positive. If one of these young men were shot, the media would be on the front line trying to be the first to break the news. Now we are asking the media to help turn this around with reporting IHS Football leadership and academic levels of the players UHLA will be recognizing in April 2022.

What did you really print that ,
Good grief!!
I need a new dictionary !
I thought a Hero was someone like the men and woman who risk their own lives to rescue someone in distress or maybe those who gave their lives to save another.
Who knew all you needed to do to earn that title now is move a ball 50 yards against untrained teens??
So what is the new name for the teens yes about the same age youngsters that liberated thousands from the Nazis ?
There were many from Inglewood High who came back in boxes, several who came back with body parts missing, and some who came back with horrific pictures of torture forever imprinted in their memory….
If your quarterback and his linemen are heros…. then please share with us what shall we call the guys whose uniforms were not jerseys, the those who dodged men with bayonets and mortars rather than a set of shoulder pads ??????
Just wondering ?
I believe that as an urban district in declining enrollment, underpaid staff, and lack of personnel resources, a sports team bringing (more) students to the district is always a plus. If the district takes away all sports programs, students who play sports will just attend other welcoming districts. Is the issue one of condemning athletes for what the goal of any game is? Is it within the pillars of character for one coach on the losing end to sabotage and talk poorly about the more superior team? Is it okay for the definition of sportsmanship to be widely defined and unspoken rules of winning games to be followed by all? What is the actual purpose of being saddened and non-congratulatory of students who just wanted to play football? Is it okay for another school to prosper over an IUSD school by over 60 points? Or is it not okay for school within IUSD to not prosper by “so much” because of character pillars, unspoken rules, and non-mercy athletic rules in place. If anything, this nonsense sheds a more illuminating light on Intra-district inequities. #weareinglewoodunified should protect ALL students, not allow outsiders to intimidate, talk poorly, and overshadow the FACT that three students committed to one of the most prestigious universities in the world! Where is the uproar about that in the time of declining enrollment, bad press, and big financial losses? Where do the priorities land in the BIG SCHEME of IUSD? This is saddening…
Anonymous,
First off “the character pillars” should never be unknown or unspoken —-They are pillars society should always hold near and dear, whisper calmly and shout loudly. They have appeared in the hall ways of most of the schools in picture and in words …That old fashion be kind to others thing- treat others as you would like them to treat you was / should be well known by each and every student, staff, and visitor to every school and EVERY-PLAYING FIELD, COURT, or ARENA.
Surely you did not mean “Prosper” in the financial sense ! Absolutely NO ONE SHOULD PROSPER financially from a football game on a public high school campus !!
Apparently in the Name of sports using children for personal fame is somehow acceptable to a few! But let us hope not many!
*******TAX PAYERS PAY FOR SCHOOLS FOR THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATION *******
“Education is the the process of facilitating learning or acquisition of
knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits, and personal development “
What you call nonsense suggests you believe or only care about the 3 youngsters which will be served up as future “gladiators” for the future NFL draft.
IUSD is responsible to EDUCATE all its students not simply to provide essentially fresh trained meat for the lions in the new and shiny coliseum for the benefit of entertainment so the wealthy owners can boast as fans drop hard earned dollars at the ticket booths and parking lots.
As for the roughly 3 x $12,000.00 or total of $36,000.00 in average daily attendance if the three attended a different school….. really…… you dare go there….. as you said declining enrollment is our reality. It may very well be declining because science, engineering, arts and music students watched 3 gyms built and 3 million spent on the tracks and decided a school focused on careers rather than balls provided a better education.
Where has the uproar been —-maybe cheering for math, science, arts, and technology labs coats and research skills careers that actually help rather than entertain.
The 6 pillars were sited by the CIF and used against IHS Football. Actually, I mentioned or questioned the notion of NOT congratulating three students who committed to UCLA! Now, since you are so WISE…you should know that most scholarships are academic/athletic scholarships. My points were that we are paying this too much negative attention when three star athletes were selected by a prestigious university and this much attention was not given to academically sound students who are also athletes. Please never misconstrue words if you did not thoroughly read or comprehend the premise of questioning and making intentional points. Apart of the six pillars is also responsibility! So, hold the adults responsibility—not the students for doing what they love. If this happened against Bosco, would the uproar be SO loud? Would you take it upon yourself as a “citizen” (another pillar) to get to know the young men who are doing well academically? Or are you just thinking about the “respect” pillar? Understand the plight and know the students before making such a comment. Your comment is one-sided like most of the media posts slamming Students. The “trustworthiness” of the social media and media reports, have nothing really to do with the academic & socio-emotional wellbeing of students BUT has everything to do with ADULTS. Stop politicizing events when it seems like you are looking at this as a one-sided show. Blame the adults and do your research before speaking on someone else’s child’s college and career goals.
Absolutely IT IS ADULTS TO BLAME !
How on earth can anyone miss that did that – the students were the followers of directions.
Staff from Administrators to Coaches should all be adults! While they may at times act like children …they are adults and should each be held accountable for the examples they set and directions they give.
It should not matter what school is playing what school – the courtesy and moral code should extend to all ! We hopefully would say exactly the same thing if Morningside was the one who scored 106 points !!
Research does indict that there are literally Millions in school sports programs and less than 2000 athletes are on the rosters to play for the NFL at any one time ….even if everyone of the NFL players came from INGLEWOOD HIGH it would still be less than 2000. Let us make certain every athlete has a “back up” if sports stardom doesn’t fulfill their expected dream.
Perhaps you judged far to quickly. You have absolutely no idea how many I have helped or how much I have spent on tuition, textbooks, supplies or mileage driving students to visit assorted colleges. No not my children- some of us do reach out and get no know many students who are not our own and yes -before you go there- students of both genders and of differing ethnicity.
With all the focus this weekend on two teams ..perhaps collectively the other students of Inglewood and Morningside have been forgotten as usual. They each should be encouraged, and treated with honor and respect even if they are not athletes.
Every student deserves to be inspired ! To be clear – That includes the 3 players ….
Out of curiosity When was the last time you saw a media celebration for the academic non-athlete Morningside girls who are taking up veterinary science or bio-engineering ?…..somehow I seem to have missed seeing that press junket make the rounds.
There is plenty of blame to go around !
The Purpose of no Staff Member or Coach should be simply to WIN at all costs.!!!
The issue is not a simple loss but the unnecessary, unbridled desire too trample beyond ..
…..like the expression “Beating the dead horse”. REMEMBER the Morningside young teens are living beings complete with aspirations and hopes and dreams also.
No ones choice of where to attend school should be “to play ball” but to get the basic education needed to enter a life time career path!!!
Get real, the average NFL player gets an average 3 years of fame and ends up with a serious group of brain bruises which may over time become very intense complications due to the constant head battering (CTE) while other body parts suffer broken bones or torn ligaments which cause life time pain in shoulders, hips, and knees and other body parts.
High School Football should be about developing friendships across team lines, skill sets in facing new challenges, not seeing if one team can trample another !!!
Here’s a reality most players once they leave High School should be able to use team work skills in the next role they play where there is a building not a grassy field. Team building is utilizing PERSONALITY skills not BULLY and BULLDOZER ABILITIES.
Alum Parent please read the CIF rules it is the TWO coaches who should TOGETHER decide to run the clock when the 35 point margin occurred…and each should always let other players have the opportunity to play. Neither coach should try to showcase only one player.
To allow only one player to star for the full game puts his not yet completely developed body at risk of significant permanent damage !!!!!!
Really does any parent want this to happen so they can look back as a what, maybe 35 year old, has been one season wonder !!
This precious four year high school time period is where all young people, yes even players, should feel safe protected and taught lessons about life that last their entire lives, which hopefully are not cut short by either, bullets, or prison sentences, because as a society we have taught them there is more to life than a game !!
Reminder in all the NFL teams there are less than 2,000 players. Most only have a less-than-3-year career ….shouldn’t that alone tell you we need to train each person for a longer life career opportunity?
Please consider as a parent how you would feel if your GOTTA WIN attitude ended up with your 20 something year old child in a wheel chair because he had a serious football injury trying to please you?
Look at the track record of the Augusta Hawkins wonders that Coach James inspired before his last suspension. One seriously injured, one in prison, the third in jail……..is that what you want for your sons?
For what so you can say “when my kid was in HighSchool he ran sooo fast, kicked soooo high, or threw soooo far”?… When someone looks at his injured body that requires help with his adult diaper, or whose only non- option wardrobe is an orange jumper will you be think the price he pays for your WIN WIN WIN philosophy was worth his future.
We should expect better from coaches …. and the assistant principal, and principal and, H R and yes Torres!
As for Why it took Torres so long to issue a statement????
THERE IS NO EXCUSE ! ! ! Not for her lack of wisdom, lack of common sense, or even the plain out and out list of failures in the selection of employees. Maybe she is suffering from the same “I can’t believe I got this title” astonishment that bewilders all of us……
Anyone curious if there is an NFL Campaign contribution involved?
Clearly, we are both saying to pay more attention to academics. IUSD is an institution of learning first. We all know that. I mentioned that this is an adult issue; I also mentioned that the young men earning scholarships (academic/athletic) should be congratulated. If this were a predominantly white school or district, would the same attention be given? If character building should be embedded in schools, mention that. This is a lesson for ALL…our students deserve the same attention as sports players. Just like you are rooting for MHS and shed light on the girls in STEM, that same light should be shed on students at both IHS and City Honors. All students deserve to be honored for being pursuant of higher education. All in all, we do agree that the school communities should pay more attention to STEM, VAPA, Entrepreneurship, Computer Science, Law, and the basics (reading and writing). However, when students are being berated by adults on social media because of an adult issue, all adults should be in uproar. I am wishing both teams well moving forward. I hope this madness turns into a lesson for the betterment of our black and brown students of Inglewood.
Whoa… Spell check. Check the grammar. total use of upper case. Got that much to say put a name on it!
