The Inglewood City Council held a special city council meeting June 29 to approve a slew of items during a 5:30pm which appears to not have been published in accordance with the Brown Act.
The Brown Act requires that the public be notified a full 24 hours prior to the start of a special council meeting. According to the city’s website, the notice for the June 29 5:30 p.m. meeting agenda was published at 6:06 p.m. on June 28. This oversight prompted a flurry of complaints being filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
The City Clerk’s office verified all items on the agenda were unanimously passed.
The city received an additional $80,000 from Murphy’s Bowl LLC to cover costs of services associated with the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) mitigation monitoring requirements for the Inglewood Basketball and Entertainment Center, which also covers the costs of certain City-approved consultants to assist with such services.
The city’s General Fund loaned $2,416,489 to the Parking Fund for implementation of the City’s Traffic Management and Operations Plan, despite the city’s mid-year budget presentation showing a $9.8 million revenue shortfall.
The funds will be used for a three-year agreement with Superior Pavement Markings, Inc. to provide pavement delineation services for regulatory, warning, and informational retroreflective pavement markings and signing to communicate the intended travel path, roadway alignment, and guidance for road users in preparation for the operation of SoFi Stadium.
The city also completed the acquisition of the Rodeway Inn, owned by Bhagat Investments – Century, LLC, for $4,029,595, which the city is purchasing to convey to Murphy’s Bowl LLC to build a proposed hotel.
The council has removed all social distancing requirements from city council meetings and no longer require the council, and/or staff to wear masks in council chambers.
The city has not provided a date for when the public can resume attending council meetings inside of council chambers.

So could it be the Billionaire’s money can not buy him everything.?
Arithmetic is so hard-
Mr Ballmer has an “estimated worth of $ 68,000,000,000.00” (per Forbes 2021) list.
The Rodeway Inn is being purchased by the city for – 4,000,000.00. To give to the Clipper owner.
Hmm, how can it be he really needs the families who qualify for free school lunches, EBT cards, and free cell phones to cough up their money and do without free park and recreation services so he can keep enough of his dollars at the ready in his bank accounts for when he dines with friends on the caviar and imported wines?
Oh wait perhaps he did pay for that hotel after all, Was it among the several expected returns on investment when he contributed to the election campaigns of the the 5 elected who will “convey” the property to him?
Is there anyone surprised that the public is not yet allowed to enter the building they paid for? The mayor does somehow seems to think City Hall is his castle and the council chambers is his throne room.
What are the chances residents will someday understand to be “sold down the river” is not a good thing no matter how rich the new owner is?
