Inglewood Mayor James Butts shared his perspective on the City’s intention to build an automated people mover that will connect from the Crenshaw/LAX rail line at Florence and Market Street and wind its way through town with stops planned for the Forum and SoFi Stadium.
The mayor addressed residents concerns surrounding proposed tax Measures H & I. The measures will raise the Transient Occupancy and Real Estate Transfer Taxes, with proceeds going into the general fund. The proposed tax increases will yield the City an estimated $4 million annually. The cost of the people mover will exceed $1 billion, given the rise in cost of construction materials.
Although multiple versions of the proposed map route has been circulated, and shared on this website, it appears that at one-time a stop would be included at the Clippers Arena, but has since been removed.
2UrbanGirls believes that if the people mover is built, a stop needs to be included at the Clippers Arena.
The only concern is what happens to the business and residents who live and work along the route?
