Compton Mayor Aja Brown has announced that 800 Compton residents will take part in the Compton Pledge which will provide some of the city’s most vulnerable residents with a few hundred dollars per month at no cost to the taxpayers.
“I’m honored to work with an incredible team of warriors for equity, access and justice for all,” said Brown. “We’re launching a Guaranteed Income Pilot to provide monthly cash payments to 800 Compton residents for two years.”
Private donors have contributed $2.5 million to the Fund for Guaranteed Income, a charity headed by Nika Soon-Shiong, daughter of Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong.
Nika Soon-Shiong is also a co-director of the Compton Pledge. Funds will be administered by the city’s Compton Community Development Corporation.
Each selected family will receive at least a few hundred dollars on a recurring basis, as well as tools that will help them access financial guidance, Brown said. Parents or other residents caring for dependents may receive more. Anonymous researchers will track the participants’ spending and well-being.
The Compton Pledge has yet to reveal who donated to support the program, how participants will be selected, or how much and how often recipients receive cash and what the research methods would be.
According to the ComptonPledge.org website, more than one in five Compton residents live in poverty, which is double the national average. Housing assistance in the city is also at capacity, which creates economic hardship in a high-cost housing market.
The program will assist those often excluded from federal and state aid programs, including undocumented immigrants and formerly incarcerated residents.
Compton has been able to accomplish this monstrous feat, despite the city not being “home” to two of the wealthiest sports owners in the world.
Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts has received $2 million in CARES Act funding, for rent relief, and chooses to only help 275 residents. Residents have nearly begged Mayor Butts to reopen the application process after the Housing and Urban Development program sent additional funds to the city for the program. He declined to do so.
Inglewood is home to one of the wealthiest NFL owners, Stan Kroenke, AND the richest sports team owner in the world, Steve Ballmer, who the mayor isn’t tapping to help residents. Instead he prefers for them to help him directly with campaign donations and the purchase of the Forum to settle lawsuits taxpayers are footing the bill for.
Compton Mayor Aja Brown used her influence to bring people and money to the table to help her residents, while in Inglewood the only people Butts is bringing to the table are additional love interests and lawyers to fight off the countless lawsuits he finds himself in the middle of. Residents AND members of the city council are beyond tired of being embarrassed by Mayor Butts’ sexual escapades and alleged fraudulent activities at the taxpayers expense.
“Don’t think for one second the federal government has stopped investigating Mayor Butts,” said an Inglewood insider. “He may want you to believe that situation went away after DA Jackie Lacey lost her investigation into the trash contract but it is still ONGOING and didn’t stop because he said it did.”
“Mayor Butts’ colleagues on the dais are fed up and we expect one of them to turn on him any day now.”

where are the applications to the Guarantee Income Program or where did the 800 random people to receive this money come from???
Mayor Brown has come up with another of her look at me schemes; Compton is comprised of 100,000 residents how do you select 800, when the whole community is in need of assistance.
I guest this is another Dr. Dre situation; when he donated money to pay for 145,000 meals for Compton residents and Aja chose one outlet Every Table to deliver food which the company could not handle…again a failure, everything she touches turns to shit.
Last night Mayor Brown said this program was for “Black and Brown” residents of Compton. About 20% of Compton residents live at or below the poverty line, and not all of them are “Black and Brown”. Therefore, this program is discriminatory and should be stopped.
Just before election time. How convenient.
The math is crazy shit too.
If 800 families JUST get $100 every month, then it’d be almost one million dollars a year.
$200 – almost 2 million
Etc ….
Aja Brown is probably sayin “They see me rollin…..”
