Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts will recommend the creation of a COVID-19 Relief Fund to assist distressed renters and landlords with funding the city expects to receive under the CARES Act. The mayor’s initiative will be introduced at the August 11, 2020, regular city council meeting.
The Relief Fund is designed to utilize $2 million, from the city’s reserves, to establish two programs. The goal is to assist low-income and unemployed/underemployed renters in the city of Inglewood.
According to the accompanying staff report, the city expects to receive approx. $1.4 million in addition to $827,507 in federal housing funds.
The program will be open to all Inglewood residents, with priority given to those 62 and older, disabled, unemployed or underemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants will be able to apply on-line and an advertising campaign will be established to notify residents.
The city council is expected to approve the Relief Fund on August 18, 2020.

Thank You Mayor Butts
This is terrible. A complete waste that will be mismanaged with funds landing into the pockets of James Butte and his friends. Where is that incompetent and lazy Maxine waters? She’s certainly do nothing and has been for a long time. She definitely keeps the rat in Democrat.
It’s definitely time to vote MAD MAX out of office.
VOTE JOE COLLINS FOR CONGRESS!!!

But I gotta disagree with you Inglewood Citizen. The COVID-19 Relief Fund Initiative is a great idea and can help a lot of people who really need assistance with their rent right now.
THANK YOU MAYOR BUTTS!!!
The COVID-19 Relief fund is cheap handouts that won’t do much to sustain the city and its residents. It’s a waste of our tax dollars, and another great example of incompetence, mismanagement and impropriety by James Butts.
James Butts and the current city council bring nothing but shame and disappointment to residents of the city. Vote for change in 2020!
