Inglewood Treasurer Wanda Brown has shared this week’s report for the Inglewood residents review. As many are aware, Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts has continued his crusade from preventing her from sitting inside of council chambers forcing her to deliver partial reports from Community Room A.
Brown has also weighed in on the debacle in the city clerk’s office where they are allowing Deputy City Clerk Aisha Thompson to campaign out of the city clerk’s office and defy the city’s municipal code which states city employees must first resign their position before beginning the signature collection process. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Integrity Unit is now reviewing the matter.
In this week’s treasurer’s report she also reveals the tactics Mayor Butts attempted to use in order to get a salary increase. This isn’t the first time he has tried to coerce a resident to urge the council to increase their salaries. Current Chair of the planning commission, Larry Springs, tried to encourage residents to consider a pay increase for the council, and when that didn’t work, Butts turned to our city treasurer.
