Turner AECOM Hunt Joint Venture (THJV) is responsible for building the multi billion dollar SoFi Stadium in the city of Inglewood. Despite being plagued with nearly three dozen construction workers diagnosed positve for COVID-19, work continues to finish the future home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.
In their monthly newsletter to the community THJV regularly highlights minority owned businesses and construction workers on the project. Inglewood Mayor James Butts is regularly quoted to be ecstatic that many local hires are Black and are making significant contributions to the project.

This week THJV highlighted Ty’Juan Young who is a member of IBEW Local 11.
We’re all looking forward to the day that we can drive up to the grand entrance and take a good look at the brightly lit sign reading: SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park.
Ty’Juan Young is the 29-year-old, Compton-raised, local-hire electrician using his spark to light up that sign and many others. A fourth-year apprentice with IBEW Local 11 and third-year, electrical engineering student at Cal Poly Pomona, Ty’Juan has no time to mess around. Finding out he was going to be a father four years ago motivated him to change his mindset and approach to responsibilities—and life in general. “I couldn’t be more grateful for that wake-up call,” he said.
Young was enrolled in engineering school when he found out he was going to be a father but initially postponed his degree and enrolled in the apprenticeship program. After getting through the first few levels of the program, he decided to attempt finishing the engineering degree he had started, all while being an apprentice.
Meanwhile, he was hired by CSI Electric, a Long Beach-based company that specializes in electrical construction and alternative energy, who recently moved him to the SoFi Stadium job-site to work as an inside wireman tasked with distributing power for the lights and signs on the stadium’s perimeter. A long-time Ram’s fan, Ty’Juan drove his four-year-old by the stadium to show him his job—nothing made him happier than hearing, “How cool, Daddy!”
