Dionne Faulk was elected to the Inglewood Unified School District Advisory Board to replace the outgoing Margaret Richards-Bowers. Richards-Bowers has penned scathing letters about the district despite her refusal to run for re-election for the seat Faulk now represents. Residents angry about Inglewood Unified County Administrator Dr. Erika Torres’ decision to close Warren Lane Elementary school has become a focal point of angry residents intent to recall Faulk from her seat before her 2022 reelection.

Torres, Scorza and Faulk were on a “community call” Friday, June 26, 2020, where Torres and Scorza pledged to reopen the school despite it not being official school board meeting or agenda item. Faulk was allegedly on the call and not allowed to speak or it would be deemed a Brown Act violation according to School Board President D’artagnan Scorza. This seems odd since only two board members were on the call.
The community continues to cry foul over the conditions of the school, outdated textbooks and the overall assumption that the students are an afterthought despite voters approval of a $90 million school bond in November 2012.
“Our schools are not as good as if we were to go to La Tijera or Beverly Hills,” said senior Tristan Castillo, who serves as student body vice president at Morningside High School. “We’re not given the same opportunities as everyone else is. The fields are messed up. The books are out of date.”
Both Warren Lane and Morningside High School are schools Faulk was elected to represent yet she is always silent when it comes to issues pertaining to these schools and quite frankly the community is fed up with her lack of concern.
2UrbanGirls has always questioned how the bond proceeds were being spent and in 2015 it was reported that a single dollar hadn’t been spent.

Faulk has now chosen to finally speak up about the issues and made a startling announcement that the ENTIRE $90 million from Measure GG has been spent. Many are questioning if she is capable of writing the statement posted to her Facebook page.

Name is Angelique Johnson not Jackson
I’d like to know who is running against Dionne Faulk? on the ballot her name is the only one that is listed and the second option is to write in a candidate. When my daughter graduated 5th grade I decided to enroll her outside of IUSD because to leave her here is to set her up for failure.
Angelique Johnson is running as a write in. We support Angelique.
