Long Beach Councilman Rex Richardson’s cousin was arrested for posting threats on social media according to a post published on Facebook.
The Wichita Eagle is reporting that two men were arrested after a widely circulated social media post that urged violence and looting in suburban neighborhoods while peaceful protests calling for an end to police brutality were ongoing Wednesday, June 3rd.
It is unknown if Wichita City Council member Brandon Johnson is friends with Richardson, as Johnson said he was working to get Michael E. Boston Jr,. 20, and Rashawn L. Mayes Jr., 19, of Park City, free in a brief Facebook video posted on June 4th.
The two were being held in the Sedgwick County Jail but have since posted bond and been released without charges.
The case is still under investigation and charges could still be filed at a later date. The Richardson family is seeking an attorney who can “100% clear him of charges and his arrest record”.
Richardson was just named President of Southern California Association of Governments – the nation’s largest Metropolitan Planning Organization, representing 6 counties, 191 cities, and 20 million people.
