Dear 2UrbanGirls
The employees of the Inglewood library have been ordered to return to work Monday, May 18, by the City Managers office. They have been told that no paid sick leave will be approved and that they must be on site and are no longer allowed to work from home. They have been told they must return even if their immune systems are compromised or they are in an at risk group where a doctor has told them not to return yet. No sick leave will be approved even with a doctor’s note? Isn’t this illegal? This information seems contradictory of the information we are getting from the Governor of California regarding the county of Los Angeles. Nobody can work from home? Really?
Many librarians have been helping their cities remotely by telephoning people and educating them about best procedures and practices. They do not have to physically be on site for this. The Inglewood librarians have had no reassurances that their work stations have been cleaned and properly sanitized or that proper arrangement for social distancing practices have been put into place especially since they are planning curbside services. When books are returned there has been no stated plan for quarantining and sanitizing the returned items. In addition the roof of the library has been in serious disrepair for over a year. Has it been repaired? The employees need to be informed that it has been for their safety and health.
Since you report and publish news of what is happening in Inglewood this is an issue that you might want to investigate for the health of the Inglewood city employees.
Retired and lovin’ it

Just when u thought misinformation was fake. This is so blatantly false its laughable. City employees have been asked to remain home until June 8th, and all employees including elected officials are required to get tested. Where are you getting your information?
City employees
Amen, it’s about time.
Hey LJ Jones….. I feel you, but witch one of YOUR parents, grandparents or kids would you sacrifice for your lifestyle, way of life or livelihood?
I know your willing to do your part. SO PICK ONE
Since you aren’t concerned with the pandemic or safety, relinquish your rights to health care in the event you get Coronavirus.
Your choice, your body. Why should essential healthcare workers help you if you get Coronavirus?

This article has so many facts wrong its almost hilarious. Date back for everyone is June 8. Everyone is getting tested before they are allowed back. Including the Mayor. Sick time is being allowed for those who do not feel comfortable. Those in high risk groups or over 65 are allowed to work from home or use sick or vacation time. Safety measures will in place including a roaming nurse taking Temps, required sequestering to your office. Social distancing when leaving office. Face masks will be required by all at all times. Mandatory hand washing a minimum of 5 times per day. Air scrubbers with small particle Filtration have been installed on every floor.
This article is like reading the enquirer or listening to Trump.
Oh wow only in the city of Inglewood I live there only because I was bless with a place that was given to me. I just love how some of these comments are so eager to get back to work but if you can’t guarantee that your place of employment is sanitized then what would be the purpose to go to work and get sick and then be screwed all over. I just don’t get people have they not took a look in the hospitals this something that can’t be taling lightly and The city of Inglewood should be ashamed of themselves but who am I for those that are so gunho to get back to work without having the proper tools in place be my guest. It couldn’t be me. Oh and dont think City of Inglewood will have your back when you catch this virus.
It’s high time this state & this country re-opens! (some of us have lives to get back to) …this PLANDEMIC has and is continuing to destroy lives, both economically and education wise etc.. it’s selfish for any citizen to want to milk an already dying economy ; & to witness your community and neighbors unemployed and failing/failed businesses, you all in these comments are selfish and ignorant as to the bigger picture of this PLANDEMIC.. you all probably wear a mask while driving in your vehicle by yourselves! smh…”sleepwalking while blind”…since you all are cool with being silenced and complying…do some research and educate yourselves outside of mainstream media and parts of the Government about this pandemic… excuse me PLANdemic
Thank you!!!!;

It is ABSOLUTELY time for this state & this country to re-open! everyone doesn’t enjoy “sitting on the system” some of us need and want to work and or get our busineses and schools up and running! …those who feel like you can continue to be lazy on their own time & DIME !
How charmingly naive even sweet to think Inglewood the decision maker(s) would “care” about employees….considering the fabled “leader” has trampled the first amendment see “Joseph Tixeira”, disregarded the “Miranda warning”- (you have the right to remain silent )—see the Santa Monica case before the Supreme Court, disregarded the naming of public places ordinances -Willie Agee Playhouse, claimed the stadium petition signers were asked if they wanted a stadium rather than the RIGHT to VOTE “IF “ they wanted a stadium ~ by the way if it was then why were all public records of the document DESTROYED?, in a council meeting spoke about working to get a “tech park” at the “oh surprise” A very very wealthy campaign contributor wants Murphy’s bowl (ing alley) aka arena site- then claimed he never said that, saddled residents with a high bid waste hauler contract based on a certain brother getting a job at the waste hauler…. really ? ….please tell us why you thought Inglewood leadership might CARE about employee safety or health .. that might be as challenging as trying to convince us the personal body guard, mayor’s personal use of a city owned vehicle and the overpaid “assistant” were essential needs to benefit residents……hmmm please oh please share with us all what flavor is that koolaid?
as of today, All City Employees are off (with pay) as of today anyway, until June 8th. All staff has been scheduled for COVID testing before returning.
Employees go back Monday and telecommuters on June 8th.
Everyone is scheduled for the test except Mayor Butts. Wonder why?
Once again false info

Not true. Everyone is being tested and those in compromised groups will be able to telecommute if possible or use sick time. Also, the return date is June 8. Horrible reporting.
I am SO GLAD I’m retired from Inglewood Public Library! It would not be worth risking my health — especially since I used to take three buses and travel for 90 minutes to get to work.

Pingback: City of Inglewood demands city hall employees be tested for COVID-19 - 2UrbanGirls
It so sad that the city manager and the mayor would put their employees lives in danger. Have they implemented any safety prodigals to keeping the staff safe. Have they installed any plexiglass to keep the staff safe from the public? Are they requiring patrons to wear face masks? What exactly is the city doing to safeguard the employees? If an employee feels unsafe to return to work why can’t they use their sick leave or vacation time? If the city hasn’t done anything to safeguard their employees then they should be held unaccountable for their death due to the coronavirus that they came down with due to working conditions.
I think the city of Inglewood leaders are corrupted beginning with Mayor butts. He and his crew don’t care about the city employees. Their needs to be an investigation of the corruption going in his office now!
I live in Inglewood. I am retired and coping with being a person with many of the vulnerabilities that could cost my life.
I don’t understand how a city government could completely disregard the welfare of its workers by threatening them. The city library is demanding that the most at risk employees return to work endangering their lives and the lives of their families.
How could the mayor and city council make such a decision? If they didn’t why haven’t they stepped in to override this travesty?
What medical expertise has been used to make such a drastic decision with out care for the citizens of this community, particularly the residence and employees of color. We are extremely vulnerable to this virus.
Did I wake up and find myself in a Trump run community? This is the signature of the racist policies of the current Federal government. This decision expresses nothing but contempt for human life.
Well, they treated us so badly that 4 of us quit before August 2017, that’s 4 professional librarians with master’s degrees. So I’m not surprised. It’s sad.
