Compton City Manger Craig Cornwell has sent out a late nigh directive on how his office is preparing to respond to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. 2UrbanGirls received the email that was sent to Mayor Aja Brown, city council and other high ranking city officials.
2UrbanGirls was able to reach Councilman Isaac Galvan who had this to say.
”Now is the time for city staff to come together, and not be placed on a council agenda for possible termination.” said Galvan. “Job insecurity should be the last worry on city employees mind.”
”I have also requested that the city stop giving out parking violation tickets, that our park facilities be closed, that staff that is in the back and not necessary for the day to day operations be sent home, that we don’t punish the employees by having them use their hard earned vacation and sick time during this epidemic. We need to work with local grocery food chains to ensure that the seniors, disabled and pregnant women get a fair chance to get proper food and supplies for their households.”
The city Council meeting will still take place in council chambers this evening at 4:30pm but will be closed to the public. Residents can watch on the city website at comptoncity.org on the City Clerk’s council agenda page.
