Is the antelope valley apart of your urban community? I hope we are not being left out and forgotten about because the issues you report on are far worst here than people care to talk about!Do you remember that overpaid lucrative contract having Superintendent Jose Fernandez from Centinela Valley Union High School District? Well back in April 2019 he was ordered to stand trial for manipulating his pay and benefits. These Antelope Valley minds have been wondering why the powers that be have NOT looked at the overpaid Superintendent of Antelope Valley Union High School District, David Vierra who is making well over $350,000 per year.
David Vierra has the school board by its balls. I read his contract and YOU CAN’T fire the man if Jesus himself came and spoke during public comment. To terminate David Vierra’s employment there has to be 4 of the 5 board members voting in favor. What school board agrees that much? I guess none which is why David Vierra has been Superintendent for over 20 years!

This last year its been interesting watching this school board. By the way the President of the Board Robert “Bob” Davis just resigned out of no where. This last year the board votes have been lockstep 3/2 on 95% of agenda items. Now with the resignation of the Board President Davis causing a vacancy I wonder if ANYTHING will get done being that it will likely be a 2-2 with Board Members Jill McGrady and John Rush voting the exact opposite of Board Members Amanda Parrell and Victoria Ruffin. Maybe I should start sending my son to school with a flashlight because I’m sure they won’t have the votes to pay the light bill.
I’m guessing Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey has been so busy picking up the bodies of dead black gay men from Ed Buck’s home to realize how David Vierra has secured his job for life and how one of the board members lives in another school district. Yes, you read that right! Another school district in Meridian, Idaho. Board Member John Rush lives, eats, sleeps and goes #2 at 2655 E. Apricot Dr. Meridian, Idaho. Frequently seen at the airport like clock work the next day after school board meetings going home.

Dr Vierra is a committed educator. He genuinely cares about the students of the AV, and his own children are graduates. As supt of a large school district, his salary is fair. Davis, Ruffin and Parrel have consistently made decisions to line their own pockets, and those of their friends. They don’t give a rip about kids, only about furthering their own political agenda. Let’s hope the DA decides to prosecute when all the facts are reviewed.
When the superintendent covers up perjury against his employees he can not be called an ethical leader. When the school board enables his actions they can only be called corrupt

To mandate four votes to remove him is excessive. Typically it is three votes.
Your article says he makes over 350,000 but his contract days 299,…
I have several grandkids who have graduated from AVUHSD and am very proud of all 4 college graduates. I thank the AVUHSD for their focus on equity and college focus.

It’s not as though it was done in secret. His income was discussed at open board meetings, unlike the meetings held by the three stooges on the board (less the one who just resigned).

I missed you reporting that Bob Davis lives in Prescott, AZ. In addition, when was the last time the board objected to a pay raise for the Superintendent?
You should probably remove the meeting minutes for that question, but, with 95% of agenda items being approved 3-2, my guess is every raise requested has been awarded.
Can you please spell check and proofread this letter? It is a kick against an educational institution…but this letter is not very educated. This detracts from your argument.
