Is this Los Angeles Councilman’s Campaign in Trouble

Los Angeles Council President Herb Wesson will soon term out of his city seat and was favored in being the successor to Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas. He has high name recognition with voters and has amassed over $1 million dollars in campaign donations. He simply doesn’t need to exploit his stepsons personal issues for votes. Unless his campaign is in trouble.

Current elected officials, around the 2nd Supervisorial District, posted a disturbing video to the social media pages, of a well dressed Wesson walking the hardscrabble streets of Skid Row looking for his stepson Doug.

He just so happened to have a camera crew document his coordinated jaunt. The video was narrated by his wife Fabian.

Wesson also enlisted the help of high profile Skid Row advocate, General Jeff, to help in finding Doug. It is presumed that Jeff was a paid participant.

Although Doug’s issues are legitimate, its rarely publicized as a catalyst for Wesson to encourage more mental health services for those on Skid Row or to defeat the legalization of cannabis. Many of the homeless are dual diagnosed with mental health issues and substance abuse.

He did so when a man was set on fire, while sleeping in a tent, along Skid Row. He never mentioned being concerned for the safety of Doug.

Is the hoopla surrounding the FBI raid of City Hall lessening Wesson’s credibility with voters? Another aide in his “soul brothers” (Jose Huizar) office has filed a $10 million dollar claim against the city, which the Los Angeles Times reported on today.

Should elected officials use their children’s ills for campaign votes? More importantly does Doug approve this message?
