Inglewood Mayor Refused to Tell the Truth Under Oath

Inglewood Mayor James Butts was presented an opportunity to change answers in his sworn deposition and didn’t. Court documents reveal that in addition to using the emails [email protected] and [email protected], his former assistant Melanie McDade was able to corroborate an additional personal email, used by Mayor Butts, to conduct city business.

When asked under oath what personal emails he uses, he failed to identify his use of [email protected] in an apparent nod to the father in the family sitcom Family Matters.

After Butts’ attorney Louis “Skip” Miller initially denied the use of the email, they were forced to concede the account belongs to the mayor and then agreed to produce documents from his [email protected] account.
