The filing period has officially opened for the city’s of El Segundo, Gardena and other cities around the South Bay. Candidates have until December 6th to file. Inglewood City Clerk Yvonne Horton took away Inglewood residents right to vote and pushed elections back to November.
In El Segundo, Councilman Don Brann will not run for re-election. Brann, who is on his second, non-consecutive term, said he has a personal policy against running for re-election.
In Gardena, Councilman Dan Medina is termed out after 12 years, but Councilman Mark Henderson will run for re-election. The next City Council will face several big decisions, such selecting a permanent police chief and city manager. Interim appointees currently fill both jobs.

The council recently passed an ordinance to prohibit no-fault evictions.

Trying not to assume but Brann at least won’t become a career councilman. Hopefully Inglewood gets a strong whiff of democracy and follows suit by residents liking term limits.
