During today’s regular Inglewood City Council Meeting, Bryant Ford, baseball coach from Morningside High School, was seeking repairs to the baseball field. 2UrbanGirls reached out to Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) Board Trustee D’artagnan Scorza about the school’s repair schedule.
The city council does not manage or handle school district matters. It’s disappointing that we have a baseball coach who is not following district policy by first, communicating with his Principal and submitting a formal, official request for support. We are aware of our baseball field needs and we have redirected nearly $30 million dollars into Morningside’s campus to renovate all sports facilities, build state of the art classrooms and modernize our facility. Our coaching team knows this and instead of following the proper channels, decided to act outside of district policy. We will discuss this matter internally and determine the best way to respond.

The question is where is the baseball and softball teams going to play this year? Can that be answered. I don’t believe the schedule layed out by previous postings by district shows that work to be completed previous to upcoming season.
Has the baseball coach submitted the forms to the district identifying alternative sites within the city’s Parks & Recreation department the coach wants to use?
