A full year after forgoing running for re-election, former San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón has officially filed to run against current Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey.
Lacey has come under fire for failure to prosecute law enforcement officials, accused of killing unarmed citizens, but Gascón is no different in this regard.

Gascón initially cited the reason for not running for re-election was to take care of his ailing 90-year-old mother, but those in San Francisco knew he would face a hard election from an assistant chief legal counsel in the Sheriff’s Department and a former president of the Police Commission who had already secured the endorsement of Mayor London Breed.
Angelenos will have to choose between the lessor of two evils.
