This week’s council agenda includes an awkward staff report requesting the city of Inglewood to remove the name of the city’s first Black mayor from the tennis courts at Centinela Park.
City Clerk Yvonne Horton is the one requesting the name change from Edward Vincent Tennis Complex to the Donald Bly Tennis Complex.
Ironically, the city had no qualms about naming the library at the Senior Center after sitting City Councilman Eloy Morales and his father, who share the same name.
The Human Resources department has updated the city’s salary ordinance which increases the compensation of the City Treasurer and is requesting an approximate $24,000 POST bonus for Police Chief Mark Fronterotta.
City Manager Artie Fields has a contract extension on the agenda where his compensation will remain at $318,049.12 and receive a $750 per month auto allowance. His contract also calls for him to always make 12% more than the base salary of any department head or subordinate assistant city manager. Fields new contract runs through August 31, 2023.
Finally, the city is submitting the July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020 Recognized Obligation Payment Schedule to the LA County Second Supervisorial District Oversight Board for approval. Mayor Butts is the Chair of the Oversight Board.
The city is seeking approval of $402,008 balance owed to the Hollywood Park Infrastructure Credit account under Owner Participation Agreement R-09-35 dated July 8, 2009 , $3,750,000 for the 1st time Homebuyers Program, and $300,000 to close contracts related to Parking Structure II.
City Manager Artie Fields signature on this document isn’t consistent with previous signatures and the staff report is initialed by the newest member of the 9th floor Administration Offices, Yulanda Parson.
It is still unclear why Fields’ signature continues to fluctuate.
