The elected officials from the city of Compton have made a selection for their new City Attorney.
Damon Brown, currently with law firm Littler Mendelson, confirmed to 2UrbanGirls that the council will vote on his appointment at next week’s regularly scheduled council meeting.
Brown is a graduate of Cal Berkeley and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity incorporated. Cornwell is Brown’s frat brother.
It is unclear if he will be forced to move to Compton in his new role to replace former City Attorney Craig Cornwell.
It’s good to see a young Black man moving into this position.

He may not be appointed as he does not live in Compton. He must meet the Charter requirements.
Craig has a history of misinterpreting the charter. Remember he argued with the District Attorneys office that the elected officials could overpay themselves because the charter didn’t say they couldn’t? Mr Brown appears to be a stand up family man. Hopefully he knows what he’s getting himself into for the sake of being called “City Attorney”.
