This Tuesday’s regular Inglewood City Council Meeting includes a request to extract an additional $1 million dollars from Murphy’s Bowl LLC. Murphy’s Bowl is also allowing a local limousine company to use their lots along 102nd Street for parking.

Jackson Limo Service, LLC, which is located at 5917 West Blvd but is seeking a parking solution at 3921 W. 102nd St. The parking site is located in the “study area site” for a proposed NBA arena.

The month to month agreement calls for Jackson Limo to pay the city $1,335. 15, per month, and the funds will be deposited into the City’s Reserve Account.

The city of Inglewood is also requesting an additional $1,345,204.73, to cover certain expenses related to hiring additional third party consultants for legal and “other services”.

Residents read those “other services” as the city presumably leaked excerpts from a deposition taken by MSG owner James Dolan. The city, and its vendors The Robert Group and Inglewood Today, all shared the article on their social media sites.

Select vendors were contacted directly by the city’s purchasing officer, Bianca Plascencia, to solicit proposals for public relations work. Fiona Hutton & Associates, West Coast Public Affairs, Courtney Torres and others got the call with Courtney Torres receiving the work.

Courtney Torres previously worked with Shallman Communications and was Chief of Staff to then Councilwoman Janice Hahn. Her team includes Mike Molina, who also served as Chief of Staff to Hahn. He and Courtney also worked for Los Angeles World Airports. Finally, Yvette Rojas round out the team having come from being the Executive Assistant and Scheduler for embattled LA Councilman Jose Huizar. She previously worked with Wendy Greuel.

Courtney Torres Consulting (CTC) didn’t have to go through the traditional public vetting process as the Inglewood Municipal Code (IMC) Section 2-198.1. Exceptions to Competitive Bidding Requirement. has an exemption provision for advertising agencies. CTC is well versed in running high caliber political campaigns.

Murphy’s Bowl has already given the city $1.5 million.
