
Compton City Attorney Craig Cornwell will resign his position effective July 7th. 2UrbanGirls has confirmed with the City Clerk’s office that per the charter, the council can either have a special election or appoint a new City Attorney to fulfill Cornwell’s term.
Councilman Issac Galvan made the motion to appoint Cornwell as the new City Manager which was unanimously approved by his council colleagues.
The charter requires the new City Attorney to be a city resident.
Cornwell will begin his new position on July 8th and has been awarded a two-year contract. His salary is expected to exceed $200,000 annually.

Well what’s new for a City that is known for its dirty political games! Cornwell did nothing to improve the City… wouldn’t even enforce the codes that legal that govern The City! It took me 3 years just to try and enforce and put signs up to address the on-going problem with loud mini-bikes, etc. The constant message to the Taxpayers, “get back with you later!”. With a new Councilperson coming aboard and a former City attorney backing her, Let the political games begin, once again, taxpayers!
