The city of Inglewood finances have been under increased scrutiny since the city approved the NFL stadium in February 2015. From a former Inglewood Budget & Finance Manager claims of the city “cooking the books” to lure the NFL, to the Daily Breeze corroborating that story in a recent article on new debt the city has created, it is no surprise we received this timely letter to the editor in our inbox today.

By now you may have heard that the State Controller’s local municipal accounting office is conducting a special audit on the City of Inglewood which they are going to close soon. They will allow the City to respond back to their findings. Once that happens they will publish their report on the State controller’s website.
Embarrassed Inglewood Resident
During today’s regular council meeting, Inglewood Mayor James Butts proclaimed all of the aforementioned allegations to be lies that are designed to diminish his successes as a Black mayor.
Will this audit annihilate or exonerate Mayor Butts?
2UrbanGirls has confirmed with the State Controller’s office they are in the process of finalizing an audit of the city’s internal controls. They expect to release the details soon.
