Federal auditors will descend upon the city of Compton the week of August 5th through the 9th. They are specifically looking at the city’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and if they are being spent in accordance with federal guidelines.
They are specifically looking into residential street construction, building conservation, Brownfield revitalization, and a fire engine.
The letter was addressed to current City Manager Cecil Rhambo, but with his eminent departure, this “monitoring” will fall on the shoulders of the interim city manager. City Hall sources share Jerry Groomes could be tapped for the interim position while the city prepares to hire Michael Antwine on a permanent basis.
