Inglewood Resident Asks “Are Our Elected Officials Pockets Being Lined”

An Inglewood resident has questioned whether members of the Inglewood City Council are receiving kickbacks from contractors and/or developers working in the city which prevents a comprehensive housing plan that includes rent control?

Now that the city has released yesterday’s (April 2, 2019) council meeting on YouTube (and NOT the city’s Facebook page) 2UrbanGirls has viewed parts of the meeting and the public comment segment, at the top of the meeting, caught our immediate attention.

A woman came forward and made reference to Inglewood’s electeds “lining their pockets” which caused James Butts to get into a back and forth with the resident. He said he had heard the same thing and asked for proof. Once she started speaking, and made reference to the salary of our police chief, he became more combative.

She made reference to Police Chief Mark Fronterotta’s outrageous $500k salary and Butts immediately took offense.

The housing debacle ALL began in 2015 when the city approved the NFL project, at Hollywood Park, which REMOVED the affordable housing units, at at the CITY’S request, after allocating $40 million in redevelopment funds to do so. 2UrbanGirls is still in possession of the ONLY known copies of the ENTIRE Hollywood Park/NFL initiative after the city authorized its destruction.

Both developments are required to provide compensation to the city: $600,000 a year in revenue from The Forum, and $100 million in tax increments toward the Successor Agency from the Hollywood Park Tomorrow project, plus an additional $40 million in tax increments for affordable housing initiatives. The Forum was also held to a strict local hiring requirement, and is required to allow the city access to its property for things like community yard sales for a set number of days each year, said Cruz.

Inglewood poised to revamp its streets and its image

2UrbanGirls have found examples of how Butts and Councilman Eloy Morales have made money, from city vendors and contractors, from their votes. 2UrbanGirls has also discovered that the city purchased interest in an apartment complex, on Century Blvd, where elderly/disabled residents are being evicted to make way for a hotel. So in short, yes, our elected’s pockets are lined like a mutha fucka.
