The Inglewood City Council will convene twice this Tuesday. They will convene for a special council meeting at 10am to name another assistant city manager and will then have a full agenda for the regular meeting at 2pm. The main agenda item for 2pm is the emergency rent stabilization ordinance will be extended to allow for additional research.
It is unclear whether city unions will convince the city council to award them annual cost of living increases to keep up with the rent increases. Many city employees have been forced to take out payday loans as the warrant register continues to show payment increases to BMG Money Inc.
Ordinance No. 1907 will be extended an additional 60 days in order for City Attorney Ken Campos to adopt an annual cap on rent increases, mandate only one increase per year, establish relocation assistance, and establish a just cause eviction policy. The document is 338 pages long, however, only one page is visible for the public to view.
The city will spend href=”https://www.cityofinglewood.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Item/6533?fileID=3402″>$800k on 8 paratransit vehicles, although, these vehicles could end up as shuttles for the NFL stadium. Would that be allowed?
The city will purchase vacant land, next door to 944 Orchard Drive, from Hardy Associates LLC for $520k, which will be used to build affordable housing units.
