In an interesting, and non-transparent move, the city of Inglewood appointed a new Assistant City Manager to replace Michael Falkow. City Hall insiders wonders what dirt the new assistant has on the city council to reap such a position.
Falkow was walked out of city hall due to his assisting Inglewood police officers during contract negotiations. It is unknown whether Falkow remains on the city’s payroll but anyone who crosses Mayor Butts is no longer employed there.
During a closed session meeting, held at 10am, the agenda item called for the selection of the new assistant city manager. By the time the regular city council meeting convened at 2pm, City Attorney Ken Campos reported out that the item to appoint the newest addition to the 9th floor would come later in the day.
After an exhausting 2.5 hour city council meeting, the public dispersed council chambers, and close session resumed, without the public knowing what happened.
At 6:27pm, long after city hall closed, City Manager Artie Fields sent out an email naming the new Assistant City Manager. Why did it take so long to promote the Public Works Director to his new position and why was it done behind the publics back? Oh, and since when are assistant city managers appointed by city council? Wouldn’t he simply be promoted?
