During the Inglewood City Council meeting held on April 2, 2019, a man wheeled an elderly woman to the podium during public comment. She began to scream and shout about a pending “eviction” that was to occur on May 18, 2019.
The man, who described himself as a world-renowned photographer, said the woman was being evicted after paying rent, on time, at 4949 W. Century Blvd. Mayor Butts chided them both for not being able to properly articulate why she was being evicted for no apparent reason. 2UrbanGirls has done the research and here is what we know.
Property Manager, Warren Properties, a Delaware corporation owned by Bruce Warren, based in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, was the initial owner of record until 2016.
The co-owners of record for 4949 Century Blvd are J and J Cohen Properties LLC AND the CITY OF INGLEWOOD. The deed was executed 6/6/2018.
Property records further show that the Joel Cohen Family Trust and Warren Family trust have co-mingled ownership dating back to 2011.
2UrbanGirls viewed the property management company’s website and found the studio apartments are fully furnished and typically rent for less than $900 per month.
2UrbanGirls reached out to another one of Warren Properties and found an employee willing to give up details of what was transpiring at the Inglewood properties.
2UrbanGirls spoke to Property Manager “Erin” and she happily stated the tenants were being evicted because the owner was converting the building into a HOTEL. They expected to begin construction at 4949 Century once they got all the tenants out, sometime this summer. Work has already begun at 4821 Century.
Inglewood City Clerk Yvonne Horton and Inglewood Public Works Director Luis Atwell are also listed on title records.

Where did the money come from and why did Mayor Butts have the audacity to play dumb as to why this woman was being evicted from a property the CITY OF INGLEWOOD co-owns with J and J Cohen Properties LLC?

His opponent screamed that Butts had no heart nor shame about screwing the people Inglewood. I bet a lot of them feel like fools for voting for this charlatan. Nevertheless, he will have to answer.

Greed affects all. And money contaminates the decency needed to care for others…
I SAY FIRE THIS MAYOR & MAKE HIM BUY THE ELDERLY COUPLE A HOME!
