INGLEWOOD – What a difference a year makes. After a flurry of articles by 2UrbanGirls and the Daily Breeze, Inglewood Councilman Eloy Morales continues to submit annual statement of economic interests forms in accordance with state laws but has removed EVERY form of outside income he is accustomed to claiming.
2UrbanGirls got the ball rolling when we discovered Morales was earning upwards of $100k from Pacific Waste & Recycling, a subsidiary of Republic/Consolidated Services. Morales has voted on every contract renewal and rate increase he is presented. The District Attorney’s office has set precedence by stating elected officials can vote on contracts and go to work for those companies after a complaint was filed on Long Beach Vice Mayor Rex Richardson.

Daily Breeze followed up with another explosive expose that revealed Morales gets paid from many companies he votes in favor of.
“I have made no motions or votes where I had a conflict, something I take very seriously,”
Morales said in an email.

2UrbanGirls was contacted by a District 3 resident, who had a discussion with Morales on the articles circulating documenting his alleged corruption, and Morales responded that residents could always vote him out if they don’t like it. It’s too bad Inglewood residents can’t vote at-large for our councilmembers.

If Councilman Morales is so confident he’s done nothing wrong, where did all of his income disappear to?
It is unclear if Lee Andrews Group (Metro), Pacific Waste & Recycling (Republic) and PRS have terminated their consulting contracts with Morales.
