Why is Inglewood City Treasurer Wanda Brown arriving late to EVERY city council meeting?
Wanda Brown enjoys the luxury of arriving to work when she feels like it. Her staff is allowed to sit in City Hall, behind a locked door, that prevents residents from entering to ask questions about the city’s investment portfolio.
According to the recently approved salary ordinance, Brown earns a monthly salary of $7,949.76. The ordinance outlines her duties as serving on the city’s Liability Claims Review Committee, Investment Committee and requires her to attend all meetings of the Inglewood Parking Authority which convenes at 2pm every Tuesday.
She normally arrives in time to deliver her at times confusing public remarks which normally has nothing to do with the city of Inglewood.
Like her council colleagues, Councilmen Dotson, Franklin, Morales, Padilla and City Clerk Yvonne Horton, she is up for re-election next year and regularly has no challengers. 2UrbanGirls has reviewed her campaign forms and found that she NEVER raises a dime to run.
Brown LOVES to brag she hasn’t lost any city money with her shrewd investments, but we have no idea how much we have EARNED in return.
Brown lives in Council District 1, on 78th Place between 5th and 8th Ave., which is 2.4 miles from City Hall. She has NO excuse as to why she can’t make council meetings on time. She has grown extremely comfortable in knowing she doesn’t have to campaign or perform her duties to actually earn her $95,000 a year salary. The days of living off residents, and doing the bare minimum is getting old and tired and we have had enough.
