2UrbanGirls has learned that two sitting Democrats, on the Hawthorne City Council, have voted against state legislation addressing the housing crisis and opportunity to work act. The council unanimously voted to pass on sidewalk repair costs to homeowners, unlike their neighbor, the city of Inglewood, which uses CDBG funds to fix homeowners sidewalks. Hawthorne also approved collecting taxes from online and out of state retailers without physical presence in the state of California.
