Inglewood Mayor James Butts continues to ignore the pleas from Inglewood renters with his failure to introduce a Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO). At the top of the year, some residents were facing steep increases in their rent and he threatened property owners with the RSO if they wouldn’t give in to his demands.
This action saved a handful of residents only.

When residents showed up to the city council meeting, to see if he would move forward with the RSO, he promptly said it was nothing more than a tactic to get one property owner to not gauge those particular renters.
Somehow, the city of Glendale had the political will to ensure renters are able to continue living in their community, unlike the SOB’s who sit on the Inglewood dais oblivious to the city’s 60% population of renters.
When will this council break free from the clutches of Mayor Butts and do what’s right for the residents?
