The Inglewood Police Department (IPD) held a press conference yesterday to announce the arrest of Edward Donell Thomas in the murder of 11 year old William Tillett. IPD is asking the public for help in seeking Thomas’ accomplice.
The press conference began with Inglewood Mayor James Butts identifying himself to reporters as “The Mayor of Santa Monica”. Those of us watching the live feed on Facebook, caught his error, that the city video team quickly deleted and replaced with an edited version.
A rite of passage for any child is the ability to earn the right to walk to school with your friends. On May 24, 1990, little William Tillett walked to Bennet-Kew Elementary and never made it home. Any parents worst nightmare.
Many former teachers from Bennett-Kew, who had William in their class, commented on this author’s personal Facebook page on how they never forget him. One teacher provided us with the original newspaper clipping that details two men were seen driving away after William’s body was found in Hawthorne.
IPD refuses to state how they happened across Edward Thomas.
Thank GOD Mr. & Mrs Tillett and their family now have some sense of closure.
