District 4 candidate Justin Blakely was successful in his lawsuit to be certified to run against incumbent Emma Sharif.
In order to be on campaign materials, Blakely was made to pay nearly $20,000 so forms could be reprinted. City Hall insiders say he did so with 22 money orders. It is unclear why this money wasn’t paid through his campaign account.
Blakely’s other opponent, Inez Adkins, is running a relatively low-key campaign although Bludso’s BBQ is supporting her with popups.
In other news, Councilwoman Janna Zurita is schedule to make her rounds to various block clubs to discuss pothole repairs. She is feeling the heat but long time Compton residents aren’t buying what she’s selling.
