Do you know the city you live in doesn’t make all decisions related to legislation that governs you? The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) is a joint-power authority that has the right to make decisions, which effect your city, and sometimes without your elected officials knowledge. Your city pays them your tax dollars to do so.
This years theme is “Celebrating the Past – Shaping the Future“. The program will review the previous 20 years and what has changed in the South Bay with a panel of historians. Then speakers and panel will discuss coming changes to the South Bay including the growing entertainment areas, other proposed major projects, and explore the challenges and opportunities that the South Bay needs to address.
This year’s Keynote Speaker is Patrick Soon-Shiong, who recently acquired the Los Angeles Times and moved their headquarters to the South Bay in El Segundo. Patrick is a physician, surgeon, scientist, inventor, technologist, and philanthropist that has devoted his career to understanding the fundamental biology driving life-threatening diseases and translating these insights into medical innovations with global impact.
