Joseph Soto wants your vote to become the next Mayor of the city of Inglewood. This is Soto’s third time running for Mayor. He began his quest in 2010. He is running on a platform that includes more transparency in City Hall, an audit of the city’s finances and enacting rent control, despite being a property owner. Where Soto and 2UrbanGirls disagrees is his wanting to reduce some vital taxes the city relies on to pay salaries and provide services. 2UrbanGirls asked him why he thinks he can do a better job than the incumbent Mayor James Butts.
This is election is not about the current administration, it’s about our community, our residents and putting our community first, not special interests. We’re going to start by auditing the city and making sure that the excessive salaries and benefits are justified. This would free up funds that will lead to the creation of youth programs, a rent stabilization fund to aid our renters, promoting community watch programs to ensure safer neighborhoods, and working side by side with our local schools so that we can improve our education, which has been failing for many years. And this and more can be accomplished by having one of the most transparent administrations that the city has ever seen. This is just a snapshot of the many goals that I can accomplish on behalf of our city by working together with our community.
