Yael Cohen Braun wanted to make a contribution towards the 107th St Elementary School playground after meeting the schools principal through a mutual friend. Braun began with a post on GoFundMe which blossomed into a coordinated effort with the Yael & Scooter Braun Family Foundation, LA Clippers Guard Patrick Beverley and the Clippers Foundation after her husband shared the post on his social media accounts. “On the Westside schools have many resources and I wanted all kids to have an opportunity to play in a safe and healthy environment,” said Cohen Braun. “When you become a mother, in a sense you become everyone’s mother and you want to see all children flourish.”
The partnership raised enough funds to resurface the schools blacktop and add refurbish the basketball courts, soccer field and walking track. Many of the LA Clippers players were on hand for Tuesday’s event.
Guard Patrick Beverley previously visited the school for a backpack giveaway and after seeing Scooter’s social media post, he was eager to lend a helping hand.
When asked why he contributed to this particular school Beverley responded by saying, “Why not this school?” From the looks on the children’s faces, they made an excellent choice.
