Compton elections are heating up. Looks like the mayor’s PR maven, Jasmyne Cannick, is doing her job of getting press to the city of Compton. NBC reporter Patrick Healy has sent an email to council members questioning them about Mayor Aja Brown’s claims that they are holding up the implementation of Measure P, two of which are also up for re-election alongside the mayor. Cannick also submitted a piece to the Compton Herald touting the mayor’s accomplishments in her first term. Is the mayor’s campaign strategy to use the media to browbeat her colleagues into complying with her? [adsenseyu2]

Council Members:
As I’m sure you’re aware, Mayor Brown is asserting that the council is delaying infrastructure improvements to be funded by the Measure P sales tax.
I’m interested in hearing the other side of the issue for the report I’m putting together today for Channel 4.
Hoping you’ll have a chance to call me on my cell at 818-355-8613.
I’ll be in Compton all day.
Thanks
Patrick Healy

The city did get one payment of Measure P monies, however, the fate of Measure P is still in the hands of the courts, and a decision will not be made until April. If the judge finds in favor of the plaintiffs the city will not get anymore monies.
