Inglewood City Hall has closed for the holiday season. City Hall will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Nomination period for Inglewood council districts 1 and 2, along with school board seats 1, 2 and 3 runs from Monday, December 12, 2016, through, Friday, January 6, 2017.

The city clerk’s office will be open half days, during the holidays, to either pull nomination papers and/or return them. Contact the office at 310-412-5280 for holiday hours.
Election will be held in April 2017.

City Council
Both incumbents have pulled papers with Alex Padilla already qualified for the ballot. Residents in the 2nd District complain loudly about issues at North Park ranging from armed robberies to random knocks on their door.
In District 1, similar issues persist with residents scared of random people knocking on their doors and smoking weed in front of their homes. Leroy Fisher has pulled papers against incumbent George Dotson.
IPD has responded with increased patrols in both areas.
School Board
The rumor around Inglewood is Margaret Richard-Bowers will not be running. She has yet to pull her nomination forms. Dionne Faulk has. Was a deal made?
Members of the local Jack & Jill Ladera chapter, complained to this author of Carliss Richards-McGee passing off scarves collected by the organization as an activity of her personal nonprofit. Some of the members of the Inglewood chapter Delta’s express their lack of support for her as well. This author has pulled papers against her.
Members of the current advisory board share that Melody, staffer of LB councilman Al Austin, is the most vulnerable on the council, with many wanting her gone. Enter Odest Riley Jr, a well connected TRUE Inglewood native AND visible member of our community, has taken out papers against her. She came in under Dr. Brann but has yet to solidify any relationship with her fellow board members, city council or residents.
In two years, the board will have voting authority over HR and.facilities, which means whoever is elected this cycle will have a plethora of new developer friends, with the ability to award construction contracts.
