Compton- Is the City Clerk preparing to intercept the people’s choices for city council? The December 6 Compton city council agenda includes a request from City Clerk Alita Godwin, to conduct an all mail election in April. That’s right. The city wants to only accept mailed in ballots for mayor, city attorney, treasurer and council.
As the mayor and council grapple with the continued displeasure of the residents, it appears there is an air of desperation of the Black establishment currently housed on the Compton dais.
Mayor Aja Brown is set to attend a campaign fundraiser in Inglewood, sponsored by marijuana lobbyists and hosted by LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas on December 14, who at one time wanted to tax marijuana to help the homeless. MRT doesn’t believe in taxing the marijuana industry on their gross receipts as most business are.
