It’s raining money in the city of Compton. The city is preparing to spend $12,500 to spread the “good news” about the Metro forever sales tax and educate the public. Compton taxpayers just spent $50,000 getting educated on Measure P. Metro’s forever tax is to pay for Metro projects, so why are Gateway cities being asked to split a $400,000 marketing budget, to pass a tax that won’t penetrate their General Funds? This is why Compton Mayor Aja Brown urged residents to pass Measure P because the Metro tax funds wouldn’t be used locally. It also looks like a former employee, in charge of the gang programs, will also have her day in court later this year.

Compton residents can recall Deanna Jordan appearing at a city council meeting with her claims, that the Compton Empowered Leadership Experience Program, did not exist. Ms. Jordan was able to move forward with her lawsuit, originally filed in December 2015, after receiving a favorable ruling, from the employment commission.
Ms. Jordan tells this author “…I am happy my case is moving forward and look forward to a positive outcome…”
