Compton City Manager Roger Haley has issued a memo to city council members, declaring his intent to go against their wishes and allocate funds to educate the residents on the pending sales tax increase ballot initiative. Haley expressed his authority to enter into contracts, with vendors, without the consent of council. He attributes his decision to discussions with City Attorney Craig Cornwell. Will he find himself on an upcoming council agenda for termination?
Today’s council agenda lists city manager Roger Haley as being up for termination. Although the city manager is spending $50k more, than initially requested in the resolution below, city council decided to reprimand the city manager only. Back to business as usual.
