Familiar face rejoins Hawthorne city council

In a late night email, thanking her supporters, Katrina Manning announced that the mayor and council appointed Olivia Valentine.  Ms. Valentine is the only African-American on the council and joins the other female councilmember, Angie Reyes-English, to steer the city in a prosperous direction.

2 Urban Girls is elated that the Black community once again has voting authority on the dais and will work to bring the ethnically diverse city together.

Ms. Valentine demonstrates she is a growing environmentalist, with her near perfect attendance at regularly held environmental meetings in the South Bay, via the South Bay Environmental Services Center, a program supported by the South Bay Cities Council of Governments.
