Dr. Don Brann was appointed by state superintendent of public instruction, Tom Torlakson, to run the failing school district in July 2012.
Dr. Brann had an illustrious career enhancing the powerful Wiseburn School District, which many IUSD students fled to. Dr. Brann was also given the honor of having a school’s library named after him. He previously served on the El Segundo city council.
While serving in Inglewood he would reiterate his desire to remain retired, yet this latest move shows his time in Inglewood reinvigorated his enthusiasm to continue serving the community.
Dr. Brann shared with 2 Urban Girls his excitement about the city turning 100 in 2017.
“It would be a great honor to share in commemorating the city with a beautiful float during the Rose Parade.” said Dr. Brann.
The mayor of the city of Lawndale, is running unopposed.
Mayor Robert Pullen-Miles is one of the few Black elected officials who you have never heard anything negative about in the press. He is currently on the staff of Assembly member Autumn Burke.
