Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) will start the upcoming 2015-16 school year on a positive note. IUSD’s “Team Brann” announced the balancing of the budget on the same day Inglewood residents voted in Margaret Turner-Evans, to the final seat on the IUSD Advisory Board.

As “Team Brann” explained the budget is balanced, areas the balance on the SB 533 loan, $28.5 million must be paid back along wtih making improvements identified in the FCMAT, will allow the district to return to local control.

With the City of Inglewood having 62,346 registered voters, Evans was declared the winner, receiving 1,945 votes to Graciela Patino’s 902. Overall voter turnout was a dismal 4.5%.
481 people turned out at the polls, while 2,383 votes were submitted via mail.
Margaret Turner-Evans joins Dr. D’artagnan Scorza, Dr. Carliss McGhee, Margaret Richards-Bowers and Melody Ngaue-Tuuholoaki.
Remarkably all but one member has experience in running a multi-million dollar budget, but State Trustee Dr. Don Brann assured 2 Urban Girls that all members will be required to get training on budgeting, so they will be well versed in fiscal matters for the day local control is handed back to them.
