Monique Ford Earl is a long-term resident of Los Angeles and one of the highest-ranking African-American budget officials in the City of Los Angeles. She has previously worked in Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa‘s adminstration as well as Councilman Bernard Parks office. This past December she became Deputy Controller.
“I rely on my faith every day, every hour and every minute when performing my job.” says Earl.
“My primary responsibility is leading a team of incredibly talented and seasoned professionals in developing the annual budget,” said Earl, who interacts with the city’s elected officials, department general managers, Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Legislative Analyst and their staffs.
She is also a recipient of the Next Generation Leader award from the Los Angeles African American Women Political Action Committee (LAAAWPAC), an organization founded to bring African American women squarely into the political arena and address the social, economic and education concerns of the African American community.
When 2 Urban Girls inquired of Mrs. Earl being a positive role model for other urban girls, she replied, “There is a noticeable void in our government when black women are absent as decision makers. I am PROUD to represent as an Urban Girl, because Civic Enagagement matters!”
Congratulations Monique Ford Earl on being selected our Urban Girl of the Month.
