In front of a capacity crowd and four hours after the beginning of the Inglewood City Council meeting, Mayor Butts and the council unanimously voted 5-0 to adopt the Champions Revitalization initiative and as mainstream media describes it, bypasses public vote.
Residents were initially told a petition would be circulated to gather signatures to support placing the initiative on the ballot. After the signatures were submitted, residents were told council has the option to either adopt themselves or place on the ballot.
